I have one leg, the driver's side front, that makes getting to the dash nearly impossible. If I could just yank out a coupla feet of tube, without removing the entire cage just to replace the instrument cluster lights, I'd be a happier man.

I'm thinking that I could Z-cut each end, sleeve the inside, and drill for one or more bolts. Prolly weld a "bushing" for the bolts so they don't deform the tube, and only carry shear forces.

Is this workable, is there something else y'all do, or a pre-made product I don't know about?

High quality  mouse-aided design attached. Outer tube is black (notice Z-cut), sleeved inner tube is green, and the bolt-through, blue. Not remotely to scale. :D

If they can make fold up wings on fighter planes, and other high stress things like that, you should be able to make a fold-able or removable brace for your cage.

BTW, how did you lose your leg?.........
Did not know that about you.........

I said I have one leg. I didn't say I have only one leg. I could have one leg, and one more ... or the girls could call me "Tripod" :haha:
