Stuck door latch

Well CK5, I did something dumb...

The other day I was playing around with the door latch on my 89 Jimmy, and I got it stuck in the up position. Now the door won't close. I tried locking and unlocking with the power locks, pushing the door handle, and nothing. Pried on it pretty good too, and it wouldn't budge.

Anyone know what I can do, or should I just start taking the door apart?

Well........Its latched. So, you are going to have to unlatch it........
Everytime I have done that, I just pulled the handle, or pushed the button, just like I was opening the door, and took my finger and flicked it open.

Just make sure the door is unlocked, put some opening pressure on it with your finger, and do the regular door open procedure.

You are not going to be able to pry it open anymore than you can pry your door open when its latched.

But, there is no spring to open it, it depends on the door weight to swing the door open when you unlatch it.
So, just unlatch it and flick it open......

Well, to maybe make you feel a little better, many vehicles have a spring in there that opens that latch when you unlatch it.
So, you might have expected it to just pop open when you unlatched it.

Having said that, its possible that yours is supposed to do that and the spring is broken.
Hopefully someone here will chime in and say. Or you could be daring and try the other door.........
