Customer truck. 1991 k3500 dually. It's stuck in 4 low. Linkage is rotating at the transfer case but doesn't change out of 4wd to neutral or 2wd or anything. Obviously internal. What exactly would cause this? Thanks in advance for the assistance....

Bw1370 tcase by the way

If the shift rails are moving and it’s not shifting it Broke the roll pin that holds the shift fork to the shift rail, or broke the shift fork

Ok. Got it up on stands after a test drive. Seems to be going into 4wd and also back out fine but i cannot get neutral on the tcase. 4lo, 4hi, and 2wd are there but when tcase is in neutral it is the same as 2wd. Still moves, rwd only. Wtf?

Ok, i may have been a little hasty in my post. Symptoms are correct but it is actually a borg warner 4401 tcase. It has a 1370 tail housing apparently. Regardless, it still won't find neutral and customer says it's still stuck in 4low gearing wise. I crawled under it and it is disengaging the front drivelin when in 2wd. He gearing seems low but if put into 4low it gets even lower. Not sure what's going on. Guess it's gonna get pulled and torn into to find out.

Anyone know where i can find a service manual online free for a bw4401?

if you pull it in 4low it gets worse ? ? ? if so then trans stuck in 1st gear maybe ? check for rusted out vac line to modulator if its a th400 truck . if its stick shift i got no clue . a vac modulator will let the trans shift via the govoner only and thats way up there in rpm .

Tranny seems to shift fine. Had it moving in fourth and dropped it down to third and it definitely shifted down. 4lo seems fine. It seems like 2hi just doesn't gear up, some but not completely. If that makes any sense. Also cannot find neutral on the tcase. When in neutral it's the same as being in 2hi. Tried hard to find neutral both with the shifter and climbing underneath manually. It just isn't there. It's either 2wd or 4wd, no neutral. Something internal is whacked. Will keep posted on results. Probably towards the end of the week.
