Stud hole size?

Making a spare tire carrier that goes into the hitch of my blazer and need to know what size hole to drill into the steel plate that is holding the wheel for my 7/16" studs? 3/8"? I'll post pics when it's done. So far it's looking pretty good for a noob "fabricator." Thanks.

The only thing a can say is messure the nurel on the wheel stud and drill the hole a 1/16-1/8 smaller so you have a press fit.
