I know it's been covered but I still couldn't find where to get just the studs that go into the housing and hold the spring plate. I don't want to use bolts. I can't find anyone who sells just the studs alone. I can only seem to find them if I get the whole UBolt kit, which I don't need.

I used grade 8 all thread and made my own..

Those are for the steering arm and knuckle and I need the spring perch studs. I haven't measured but aren't the spring perch studs a different size?

Yep, different size. Spring studs are 5/8x13 tpi.

WFo Concepts out of Auburn,CA sells them and keeps them in stock. It is just cut allthread though. Also then use a stud from a D44 steering arm in between the two studs on the rigs they build, but i haven't noticed anyone else doing the same.

between how?

I can only find 5/8"-11 threaded rod. are you sure it's 13? I guess I could actually go outside and check them. But then I'd have to put down this tri-tip sandwhich.

:doah: Guess I got a little off track while I was thinking about the studs.

No they should be 5/8-11tpi (Regular 5/8 UNC-thread)
At least if it's from a Chevy...

If the axle is from a dodge they should be 9/16-12tpi

Ordered up some Grade8 5/8-11 All-Thread, should be at the shop today. Now I just need to get the old ones out of the housing:doah:

Installed via drill-tap the housing. For me there was just a little too little material for me to confidently drill the sob and be sure it was straight. I would imagine that a housing jig would be used to keep it square. If 2 studs and a u-bolt was used from the factory and held up over the years of abuse, i didn't see the need personally

oops, correction 1 u-bolt, and 2 bolts(didnt want to get flamed). Matt. different springs= different thickness, you can measure the thickness of the spring then measure the depth of the hole, but you would end up having to space it properly to get a good thread engagement. With studs you can run them into the housing all the way and not have to worry about if they are in far enough . If that's not enough . Do a search for broken D60 bolts on that spring plate, lot less likely to break the stud when taking the nuts off unlike the bolts that seize in there.

makes sense, and sounds like a better way to go. Too bad that i'm having just the opposite. i did bolts on my 60 install and stripped out one of the holes. PITA finding an "economical" way to get it fixed. once it is though ill be using studs instead of bolts.
