stuff you have found pulling vehicles apart inside for years . . . .

That's a vintage knife for sure. My Dad had one just like it...

I had a Kershaw pocket knife fall out of the dash in a Jeep Wagoneer while wheeling. Decent knife too. I also bought a Tahoe from the Eagle CO sheriffs department, found a dollar bill full of cocaine jammed down into the seat. Someone really got away with something there. Could not believe my eyes. :yikes:

I bought a 454 HO crate motor direct from GM.... installed it in my blazer...prelubed it with a drill, blah blah blah...

Upon start-up, the oil pressure fell to 0 in about 30 seconds....doubled checked everything, restarted it, same result...

dropped the pan to see if the pump was loose etc... I had to remove the windage tray to get the pan out of the truck...
my hand slipped off the wrench and the wrench fell into the pan... I reached into the bottom of the pan to fish the wrench out,
and came out with a hand full of plastic wrap and a 6 inch square of cardboard...

GM performance parts and I had a spirited conversation over that one....

ha!!!
almost as bad as one of my old friends that though it would be a good idea to put red lock-tite on the back of all of the rod and main bearings in his 289 he was rebuilding so that it " wouldn't spin a bearing "...

next day he couldn't budge the crankshaft..
:haha::haha::haha::haha:

A co-worker at the junkyard found something mysterious duct taped to the rear quarter of an old plymouth when he opened the trunk to look for a tire iron--it was something wrapped in aluminum foil about the size of a paperback book...

The boss was told "there's something fishy about that car,it has something taped up under next to the trunk lid..
He peeled it off,and said "hope its not a bomb or something!"..then he put it down and said "I'd better call the cops"..
An officer came and inspected the "package",sniffed it, and said "I don't think its anything deadly",and used gloves to peel off the foil--and revealed about an ounce of hashish, badly mildewed!...

Funny thing is that car sat there probably 15 years and had been cannibalized extensively, body panels sawsalled off, that part of the car was about all that was left for sheet metal, probably because it was hit on that side enough to discourage using it on another car..crazy that no one noticed it before--it was pretty well hidden!..

We found a lot of critters living in some of the cars there--opened a trunk once and found a mother cat nursing her kittens, and other cars had racoons and squirrels living in them...never knew what might jump out at you!..One car,a '50 Buick, had an old rotting bearskin rug in the trunk complete with the head anf teeth!..that thing gave everyone heart failure that opened the trunk, including me!..

Then there was a '74 Nova we tipped on its side to pull the tranny & crossmember out and about 100 garter snakes came slithering out of the frame..the screams from the guys wife who was watching that came to buy the parts was very bone chilling..she paid us to remove the parts,we were going to let the husband do it--but he seemed more afraid of the snakes than she was..

We waited till the next day to go near the car--pulled the parts off, never saw a snake until we were lugging the transmission over to the shop truck and one slithered by and startled us--almost dropped it!..

Other workers at nearby salvage yard often told us about how they towed in bad wrecks and found all kinds of stuff--including flesh,fingers,teeth..eck16.gif ..drugs....the yard I hung at didn't tow in wrecks or even buy many "new" vehicles,it was just selling off existing inventory mostly--was glad I didn't have to find stuff like that..

I worked for a truck leasing company,,one night, one of our rigs was rear ended by a couple of dudes running from the cops...

Next day the customer brought the trailer in for us to inspect it for damages and to replace the DOT bumper sheared off in the wreck... under the trailer we found skin,
hair, bone chips, brain matter.
pretty gross!!!!

My 73 K5 had like 500 losing lottery tickets stuffed into the seat cover.

Found a box of 30-30 and a handfull of loose .357 mag ammo when I unstuck the glovebox of of the '85 Ranger I bought in the late 90s.

Worst was a 75 trans am that me and a buddy bought as a lien sale from a tow yard to part out in like 92. Console had like ten speeding and equipment violation tickets stuffed in it. Under that was a kitchen knife with dried blood all over it. Tailor made ADW prosecution since the tickets had the dumbass's name on them. Today I would turn it in but we were 19 year olds hoping to turn a weekend of work into beer money so we threw it all in the weber and lit it up.

There was a 70's Lincoln at the junkyard --one day we needed some old style glass fuses,so we looked in that car ,it was old enough to have them..in where the A/C fuse should have been, there was a .22 bullet!..and two more were in other spots in the fuse box !..

Glad we never had to try starting that car..the motor was seized..
I guess a gangsta owned that car!..

Nothing too exciting for me. When I did the exhaust in the 66 an old impact socket fell out from somewhere.

When I cut the rockers out of the crew cab for sliders a screw driver fell out.

Back in the late 70's thru late 1980"s I owned a 1970 Buick GS Skylark with a big block 455. In about 1985 I was pulling out the seats to restore the worn out interior of that car, and I found an un-cashed paycheck from a UAW assembly line worker. The date of the check matched the manufacture date tag on the door.

I found this under the seat of my tundra after I bought it.

And my old boss used to make me fix his furd f250. The one that was an extra amount of problem child, I forget the year their diesels were really bad. Anyway I found this down deep in the recesses of his engine compartment. Thought it was really cool, looks pretty old school.IMG_20181209_205659737.jpg

Pulled the carpet out of a car I bought and found a little baggy of meth.

I owned a towing service from 1989 to 1998 and the things I found in the impounds that were never picked up was mind blowing. I also bought probably 100 vehicles from the Denver Sheriffs Impound Sale over the years and got some great stuff out of those cars. These are a couple of the good tools I found under the back seat and in the trunk of a Camaro I parted out.

A friend who worked at another salvage yard besides the one I hung at,showed me a lot of remarkable "finds" he had got from cars & trucks hauled in --the ones with the most goodies were ones that had been impounded when someone got pulled over, and ended up being jailed.

I guess after so many days in storage at a tow company, they have the right to keep or sell the vehicle to cover the costs, and most just junked them--without even opening the trunk or glove box,or do any search inside the car..he showed me nice Craftsman tool sets,a brand new splitting maul, axes, sledge hammers, and various other items--one car's trunk had a nice aviators leather jacket that looked brand new, worth over $200, --he said "that fits me perfect--it's mine now"!..

He also found some cash in many vehicles and some drugs stashed in the seats ,consoles, and a few bullets--he said he was surprised the police didn't evidently do a very thorough search before the car ended up at the junkyard..one car owned by a woman, had a purse in the glove box with over $500 in cash, credit cards, and her license!..he tried tracking her down to give it back, but found out she had been jailed for various felonies ,so he gave it to her sister..

I've found a few decent tools in some trucks I bought--the '71 GMC K1500 I got for my first plow truck had a like new Blue Point ratchet stuck way down under the battery tray in the inner fender, and a combination 9/16" x 5/8" wrench and some Easco sockets..
Found a set of like new kitchen knives in the bed of my '82 GMC when I got it--bed had about a foot of sand in it,I found them buried in it while I was shoveling it out--they went in my garage ,I use them to cut hoses, and cardboard boxes up..

Bought a Lexus from the police in GA one time. It had been confiscated and then used for undercover work. It was pretty beat down, but I planned on doing a swap with a big single turbo. I had just got started on stripping the car and pulled the rear seat. I almost puked at what I saw. Condoms (new and used), personal packets of lube(new and used), cartridges(filled and empty), blood, and drug baggies. I noped the fucH out and sold it the next day.

I found a spent 9mm cartridge pinched in between the inner and outer fender on the Burb the other day.
