I have a seriously confusing problem here. I have a 97 4wd yukon as my dd, and when its wet out the fugger stalls out and doesent like to stay running. it will chug at around 300 rpms while in park and then turn off, or it will be in drive under no load and turn off. its fine under a load.

My check engine light is usually on for a trans. slip, but when the truck cuts out, the check engine light will stay off for a while.

Im thinking IAC vavle, but dont want to throw $90 out the window if that might not be the culprit.

90 isn't bad troubleshooting compared to having a shop diagnose it.

Can't you take it to an Autozone or the likes and they'll hook up the scanner and diagnose the codes for free?

check to see if you have any dampness near anything that supplies spark to plugs. Like inside the cap. moisture builds pretty fast when it rains. I believe a bad IAC valve will pop a code.

Let's see... fuel system is ok?
Air intake is clear?
Spark? Prolly good.

I'm going to change my thoughts to there being moisture in the distributor or ecu causing the problem.

I was going to say the same. Wonder what you could squirt in there safely to dissipate moisture. WD40 would sound logical, but may ignite from the sparks.......so thats no good until someone has experience.
