Contemplating a rear disc swap on my V1500, k10.

Will the rear disc brakes from a Tahoe bolt up to the 12 bolt axle?

I think it would be metric stuff....

Enlighten me!
 
No. None of any of that bolts up. Swap the whole axle which nothing bolts up, or disc swap your axle with kit parts that do bolt up.
 
I'm not real upmonnthe late model stuff, do the gearing options run the same as the old numbers? I thought they were off a little.
 
If the drums work, keep them.

I have yet to see a consistent, 100% works every time disk brake swap. Too much, too little, won't bleed, weird pedal feel, lose the e-brake, stupid expensive and complex calipers, etc.

If you can swap a complete axle in, maybe. That eliminates a lot of issues. But the proportioning and all that goes along with seems to be a pretty common problem.
 
The rear brakes on my stock Silverado sucked. Went to put new pads on the rear, they wouldn't fit. Pads were too thick. Had to buy new rotors to get it to work. Pita.
Drums are stupid simple. I can lock them up all day if needed.
 
Check out the SSBC A126 rear disc brake conversion. I put them on my 1980 K5 12 bolt rear and they work great. Includes a cable driven emergency brake so you don’t lose that function and it just hooks up to existing cables. It’s a bit pricey, but no fabrication and much better stopping power.
 
This is what I did with my 14 bolt six lug rear. Seems like it would work on just about any axle...
To Convert 14 bolt SF from drum to disk: find a 99-04 10 bolt from a 1500 or Tahoe at a junkyard and pull the brake system, including the e brake cable to the tee and the brake line to the axle tee. While your there measure the distance from the back plate mount to the axle mounting face. (60mm) Then All you'll have to do is grind the welds on the backing plate mount on your 14 bolt and move them out to the correct depth,and make sure they’re clocked correctly & weld them back on

What size wheels are you running with this setup? Rotor diameter is pretty big at almost 13", but I'm seeing an "offset" (inboard) of almost 3.5". Just wondering if that pushes the rotor back far enough that it would clear stock ralley wheels.

I know it's a niche application, but I'm not opposed to playing around with a rear disk setup. I'm just keen on keeping the stock wheels.

FWIW I'm pretty sure some van applications will work as well. Somewhere I've got pics of one I saw in a parking lot that had rear disks with a 14SF.

The results don’t justify the time, or expense for me. Like spending $700 on headers to get 10hp.
