So, I haven't really made any progress on my own truck for several months due to two things: 1. Working 6 nights a week and 2. This early 90s YJ that has been occupying a spot in my garage for about 6 months now.
It came to me to have the front axle seals replaced and the front diff rebuilt. Wound up fully removing, rebuilding and replacing the front axle. And the rear axle. And installing an SYE on the t-case. And building a new trans crossmember. And a rear driveshaft. And swapping out the 350's carb, intake and distributor. And replacing a broken engine mount. And re-wiring the engine compartment. And the dash.
Finally have it to the point where it is pretty much done, fully rebuilt and ready to go. I just need to finish installing the rear wheel adapters to go from 5 bolt to 6. So I went ahead and fired it up today so we could set the timing and tune the idle circuits a bit. Got it going and the engine promptly started knocking viciously from the bottom end.
So now I am doing a 4.8L LS swap.

I am not so sure it's ever going to leave my place again
