Its a lil involved to take my topper off. Dont have any help and no where to put it once its off. I want to paint my roll bar, I wonder how big a mess itll be if I mask and paper the inside of the truck and spray paint it.

I do have plans to pull the topper at a shop later on and redo my seals, but id like to get some paint on the roll bar so it doesnt rust. Its just bare mild steel. I thought about wiping it down with WD40 or silicone in the mean time.

And no, I cant get roll bar out with the topper on. lol

Slide the top halfway back? I forgot if your roll bar is just up front... but the half tops slide easily enough, and as long as you don't put it toooo far back it won't fall off. (Me, I'd put a ratcheting strap across the top at the wheelwells to hold it down, but I believe in overkill.)

Seems like a lot of work to mask everything. I'd get some rustoleum paint and a foam brush...

don't come on here asking us the best way for you to get high in the back of your truck. :haha:

i sprayed the cheap bedliners stuff from walmart on mine years ago and it's still holding up well. i'm pretty sure they have a brush-on version. i'd go that route in your case.

I used a brush and a quart can of Tremclad. It flows out very nicely and you can't tell it's brush on...yet I was able to get into the tightest areas without having to spend a month masking stuff off.

I would wipe it down with some thinner to remove the oils that are on the tube right now.
