so put in 4 and then check the level before you put in the fifth, just to be safe...

thx, i put 4 and a half in and it read full, guess there was a lil oil left over from the drain thx again

Did you use a PF25 or 35 filter? If you used the small one, 25, try the 35 next time and you should be able to put in all 5 qts.

Forgive me for this question, I am NOT trying to be a dummy, but did you check the oil level after you ran it for a couple of minutes, letting the pressure build, and let the filter fill?
Reason I ask this is with a 1 quart NAPA Gold filter, my 406 take almost 5 and a half quarts.

Speaking of filters, I use a STP S373 filter on my 350. Its about twice as long as the PF35...Holds somewhere close to 2 quarts. No clearance probs either. Hangs just even with the bottomof the oil pan. When full, its around 6 qts.

My buddy said something about putting the oil in his truck that they put in diesels? anyone do this?

Some of the police cars and city trucks that come in where i work run motor oil made for diesels. It meets the same requirements as gas plus it has a different additive to meet diesel specs. So basicaly its for gas or diesel.What ever you put it in it will meets all requirements.
