What TYPE of tranny fluid do I need for a 1980 TH-350. I picked some Mercron III but I know if I throw the wrong stuff in......bad things man

The tranny has a leak in it somewhere and when I bought it there isn't much fluid in it so I am gonna fill it up see if the tranny works and try and spot the leak. Just need to see what type.

Yeap as long as it says Dextron III on it.

It is for automatic transmissions wherever Dexron or Mercon standards are recommended. Its resistance to oxidation is reinforced; it's more fluid at low temperatures permitting smoother gear changes.

Also Dexron III is the latest development in the Dexron specification.
Anti-wear, anti-corrosion, anti-froth.

Technosynthesetç approved General Motors Dexron III

Sweet:laugh: I just bought the cheap autozone brand because this is just to get enough fluid in it to move it then I plan on changing the fluid and adding some quality stuff.
