I was using some anaerobic threadlocker today and started wondering. If it cures in the absence of air, then why doesn't it cure in the container?

That's why the containers are only ever half full.(or half empty if you're a pesemist!(sp?))
And I thought that it was because you paid so much for such a tiny amount that they would feel worse if they put it in a container that was any smaller...
