I was looking for a way to mount 2 or 3 fishing poles inside the K5, cause i dont like things just laying lose. has anyone ever done this if so picture are awsome.
We have one like this for the suburban, it mounts to the roof on the inside (and you don't have to drill holes or anything, it sort of clamps itself to the roof).
i tried some of those plastic molded rod holders w/ the foam rings. they held the rods a little too high and let the rods slap against the roof by the dome light - not good. these are clothes hanger rods that go across the back of the car. they were about $15 each a wallmart. the front one is mounted to the screw holding up the grab handles above the rear seat. the rear one is bolted to the backer plate of my thule roof rack. i'm sure they could also be held w/ a small molly bolt through the fiberglass where the roof angles down w/ out causing any leaks too. i cut up some velcro wire ties and zip tied them in the middle to the clothes rods. just wrap each side of the velcro down and around the rod to make a loop that holds it up to the clothes rod. the velcro loops are angled so 8' surf rods will fit w/ the butt at the rear window on the driver side and the rod tips go over the pass side visor. the butts are fanned out across the back so shorter rods are straight up the passenger side.
