I'm replacing the water pump in my Dad's '85 Chevy C10 w/305 V8. I get the water pump off and expected the pulley to slide right off after I removed the clutch & fan. But it doesn't. The pulley is loose on the 4 studs and center axle, I can wiggle it around, but it won't come all the way off. I don't know what the fock is holding it on there. I don't want to bend or dent the pulley with my hammer trying to get it off.

Any thoughts?

I didn't have a puller to try on it so I took it to the auto parts store and they had one. Came right off. I didn't expect a press-fit pulley to have so much play in it...

Hey now.

Does anyone know offhand what size pipe plug I need for the top of the water pump, when I got it home I realized I needed the plug from the old pump, but it was probably rusted in there anyway.

My temp. sensor for my fans is a brass plug that goes in that hole... I think 1/2" NPT was it as well... been a while though.:o

3/8ths sounds too small. I'm thinking 1/2"
for some reason I thought it was 3/8ths, I remember looking at it thinking, this is really big for 3/8ths...unless if I read the package wrong.
