I got a 1990 GMC Suburban and want to lift it to fit 35 inch tires. Will a 4 inch lift clear them without any triming or would i have to go with a 6 inch. if i have to go with a 6 do i have to change driveshaft lenth and\or pinion angle. I pull a jeep on a 18 foot trailer with my burban, any sugestions on what brand of lift kit to go with. thanks for any info anyone has!!!!!!

I just put a 4 inch on my blazer and I have no clearance issues at all! If you use superlift be careful I had nothin but headaches. :doah:

Your question has been asked a million times and there is no single answer. It depends on wheel backspacing, tire brand, spring rate and age/condition of the springs, phase of the moon, settling of your body mounts, tea price in China, and various other more obscure factors.

In short, 4" will prolly work for 35"s, especially if you get stiff springs.

You might need to do something about either or both driveshafts and pinion angles, depending on how you do the lift.

If it were me I'd do a shackle flip in back (prolly won't have to do anything to the shaft or diff) from, say, ORD or DIY4X

http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/shacklekit.htm

http://www.diy4x.com/suspension.htm (scroll down to Shackle Flip 'N' Switch)

and then up front a set of 4" lift springs, which should also not require shaft or angle changes. Oh, and heavy duty shackles for the back end of those front springs, from either of the above vendors (or others.)

I also really like the greasable poly bushings.

I see that ORD says that due to the longer wheelbase, your Burb might need some tweaking to the *driveshaft* angle, but they have a link to more detail about how to check it out in your particular case.

What's the specs on the Burb? If it's only half-ton, towing with 35's might not be such a good idea.

I'm running a 4" lift with 35" tires, nothing done to either driveshaft, it does pull the rear out alittle, but i have been wheeling and driving it like this for about 5 years now and never had any issues. Angle is fine as well.

i would probably recommend the heavy duty rear shackles on the front springs, as i am currently running into some issues with the stockers moving alittle too much for my liking.

Its a 90 half ton 350 motor 700r4 tranny not sure on the Xcase and a 10 and a 14 bolt axles. I will defintly look into the shackle reversal kits menyioned, and maybe go with 33in tires if yall think 35s will be too big for what i use it for. thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
