Has anyone put subwoofers behind the seat of a 81-87 k10? If so what box did you use and what kind/size subs did you use. Thanks

It almost has to be a custom box, and youl have to scoot the seat up some, or do what we always did and cut/extend the cab out till it hits the bed behind the seat. Without mods you couldnt fit a very deep 12 back there, i know my JLs would not fit behind that seat with it scooted all the way forward....

I've had a 10" mobile athority sub back there before. Just got a truck box from walmart. that was 13-14 tears ago, so I dont even know if they have them there anymore. right now I have a pair of kenwood truck style box's with 12's and a horn in each that will fit behind the seat of a regular cab. Check www.onlinecarstereo.com . they have a bunch of that style.

The thin style subs have gotten VERY good lately too. look into them for even more options

I have two 8's in the crew that will fit behind the seat. My brother made a pair of boxes for me. Kind of a wedge shape.

I like the look of that Rockford fosgate they have at that website, it's only 5.25 at the bottom

Crutchfield has some sub box options. I got a sub for my reg cab S10 behind the seat from them. If it can fit in an S10, I know it'll fit a K10

crutchfield is more expensive though. they do have alot of stuff and awesome service. but more $$ usually

I use to run a rockford fosgate 8" sub and 45w amp shoved into a custom box made to fit behind the seat. I might have a pic of it somewhere.

I have two 8" Kicker subs behind the seat of my 87 V10. They are in some old generic truck boxes I had laying around. The seat is slid all the way back.

I had 2 10's behind the seat in my K20. Had to build a custom box and that involved moving the seat all the way forward to fit a box with enough airspace. I'm short so it wasn't a big deal, I'll see if I can find some pics.

I'd like something that would hit good, so I was thinking about 2 12s or 2 10s, but I have to keep my seat all the way back because I'm 6'6"

I had an 800w 4 channel amp under the seat powering 2 sets of component systems. I also had a 600w 2 channel amp power the subs. The subwoofer wiring in the picture looks crappy because I had just thrown it together with a cheap set of subs and a cheap amp to sell the truck. I put the good amp and subs into my new truck. This is with the seat almost all the way forward and the box is tight from the bottom of the seat to the back of the cab. I left a little room to move the seat so I could still access the bolts to remove the seat and the box. I also threw together a little center console to hold 2 mids and tweeters and some cupholders.

That's a nice setup behind seat, I was thinking about doing a rocksford fosgate punch setup, and then later adding another so it would be similar to yours

buy one:D it'd be enough trust me. they go on sale on that site for 350-380 all the time. soundstream and pioneer make good slim subs too. the pioneers are like $100. then you could keep the seat WAY back:thumb:

Either build a custom box.. or buy a cheap wedge box from where ever. Calk the inside joints, fill the box with "great stuff" insulation spray, cut out foam for speakers and bam!

Wonder how good the13.5 will fit behind the seat, because that's a tall sub
