Here is what i'm thinking of doing if I get this suburban what do you guys think? I know its been done before but my wife wanted to show me what it would look like before I do it. What do you think?

I want to do this too but I just dont like the vertical pillar look. it needs a taper back atleast min 1 to 2 feet. that would look so much better. you could fab up some sheet metal sides, make a bed wall and tie it all in. and ofcourse a window. I say do it.

there is one of those running around here and personally I dont like it. your pic looks a little different, I think the one Im talking about is a tahoe cause its shorter. the bed area is about 2 feet long and ugly as hell but that one doesnt look too bad.

Sweet, looks great! But, (IMO) move the rear axle back about 6" and switch to a (2 door) Tahoe fuel tank (to fit in the shortened rear overhang), it'd be a lot of work but, I think it'd look about 10X better!:D

guy up here we call hillbilly did that to his 86 with a diesel , it actually does look pretty good

It deffinately needs to slant back a bit.

But the rear window on an Avalanche is still pretty much 90 degrees, but you could use the rear slanted part you'd be cutting off, and weld that to the body, and put a straight 90 degree window resessed into the slant part.

That's what I would do personally. I would like to get another sub to turn into an avalanche... Mine went too far.:haha:

Well the one in the pic is a shorter bed and I believe the one I'm getting is the SLE which I think is the longer rear. I like the thoughts of a slanted rear piece coming off the cab as for the longer rear I will be cutting out a section of the truck to make it shorter then weld the rear back on. also adding a lip all the way around. I might go as far as fabricating the back cab and adding a custom window.

SLE is just a trim package. There was only 1 length suburban, 1 length tahoe.

Unless i am misunderstanding what you are saying......

I'm gonna disagree here, I say keep the straight back to the cab, I hate the slanted crud on the Avalanches! Keep it straight!:D
