Ok, who's got their headliner out?

Does the drivers side roof have the threaded holes to accept an over door interior grab handle?

Very sick of people climbing in with the steering wheel, after they look for a grab handle and there isn't one. Even i've been guilty of this in off-camber locations (so what if they were in parking lots :haha:)

I want ot add one!

So to be clear, i know there is no handle on teh drivers side.

I'm asking if there is provisions, thread hole, in the ceiling, for one.

Guess I need to tear it open, and see if I can install one with some large diameter self tappers....

On my '83 Blazer which did not have a headliner there were no threaded holes for a grab handle. Kinda strange that they didn't install them on the driver's side. I remember asking my parents when I was a kid why manufacturers didn't put handles on the driver's side. :dunno:

What about putting it on the A-Pillar? I think that the curvature of the pillar might offer more strength than the more-flat expanse of sheet metal that is the roof.

Right by the door frame, the ceiling structure is pretty strong.

alot of cars don't have drivers side ones. Thinking they want you hands on the wheel.....

:sign16:

Dhcomp, did you ever come up with a decent way to mount a grab handle? I think I want one on both sides, especially since I've split several pairs of pants in the crotch due to climbing in and out of my truck over and over throughout the years. :haha:

This sounds like a personal problem. :haha:

I never did anything.

Now that i've got a welder, i probably woudl have welded in some nut plates in the stock locations, and install another stock one.

But, not pulling the headliner out for that.

Not worth it.

Yeah it's not too bad of a problem when you're at home and not in a big hurry. :doah:

I'm thinking maybe I'll put one on the A pillar like someone suggested. Although my truck has no headliner...

Weld up some nice nut plates, and weld them to the reinforcing above the door. The pillar handles look dumb.

Should be easy to order another handle from LMC.

Pics!!!! please!!! I have been kicking around the idea of doing this now that the truck is on 37"s. What handles did you use?
