So I ALWAYS get my own insurance, but neglected this time, and because I wasn't in cell phone range when the driver called Sunday, I drove to the truck terminal 20 miles away to pay for the shipping from Texas.

And guess what? The RR tailight is crunched!

The driver says he picked it up at the terminal like that, and the "new" driver- kid that collected it from the seller and dropped it at the terminal must've done it. Nice guy, but he shoulda' noted it! He saw the tailight under the seat! Duh!!

So I call the shipping co, and the owner answers. I explain the damage, and right away he's blasting me at how they havn't had any damage in 4 months, the TEERUKS a piece of cr*p, it had damage when collected...

So I do a conference call to the broker, a VERY nice lady in Texas. It's really her responsibility to do ALL the logistics, but for simplicity, and other matrimonial reasons, I handled certain aspects.

The owner is adamant. Pay the driver or no TEERUK!

I've got to get back to work, and my boss phones at that moment. So I pays da driver, mark the damage on the condition sheet, have the driver sign it, take some pix with the sheet and damage in the pix frame, and write ta youz...

I have pix of the TEERUK b4 pick-up, and the condition sheet shows NO DAMAGE!

Thoughts???

can't even loko at it, but i'd threaten to go to court and then offer an outside settlement and an apology.

I'd thought I'd get an apology on the morning when I saw the damage and called the Trucking owner. Got an earful instead.
Legal rep? Cost more than the damage. I'm gonna' get an estimate tomorrow, and send him and da agent a bill, kinda threatening like. I'll post a copy...
My broker/agent should have his insurance on file, I'll send them a copy, too. Yipeeee!!!

I ran for a wrecker/ auto transport in the late 90's DAS dependable auto shippers,
Their insurance would cover anything, AS LONG AS IT"S DOCUMENTED! you got one inspection sheet that shows no damage and one that does, No problem call the shipper file a claim and (unfortunately) wait. it'll take about a month, but go get estimates , maybe 3 or 4. get an average, cost send it to them and wait. you just got to be firm and don't take no for an answer.

I think I have that chrome piece somewhere , not hijacking to sell it , just offering it up if you want to fix it yourself , my rig is never getting it put back on

A call/letter to the Better Business Bureau can do wonders. Complaints to them can screw up the trucking company's ability to get credit, etc. AND it's free. They're on-line.

Wowee... I luv this forum!

I NEVER give up! 'Cept with Harley Davidson, which I bought new in 2000. I tried so hard, but never involved outside agencys. Maybe I'll wake that file up...

Gonna' call agent, and ask her thoughts. If she has no allegiance to shipper, I'll make the call to BBB, local Oklahoma Attorney General, and get nice FAT estimates...

Had I known he was such an assh*le, I coulda' recorded the conversation by pressing a button... Shame... Not admisable, but...

Pauly, I'd be interested in the trim, I may need another odd piece, I have 3 of these babies hanging around... Thanks! Check PM... Ug
