Has anybody out there put a suburban 40 gallon tank into a Long bed, regular cab truck frame?

For those that haven't been following along, I am using a 1987 C10 reg cab chassis under my 1959 Chevy Apache truck body.

The Apache had a gas tank inside the cab, behind the bench seat. I have ditched that. I don't want a gas filler in the side of the bed. I am running a fleetside bed on this.

My original thought was to use a 31 gallon K5 blazer tank in the back, where the spare tire used to be on the C10. But then I remembered about the bigger suburban tanks.

I do have to move the rear axle forward 8 inches for the body swap. So I will gain some room back there.

Does anybody have any input to this swap?

Um yeah. Was like trying to shove a garden hose up a ducks butt

I went with a 31 to get the tank off the bumper. Didn’t think that was too safe only had like an inch clearance

Any pictures of when you were mocking it up? I'm not sure if the 59 Apache rear bumper will stick out any farther than the 87 C10 bumper did

Not with he 40. I can get you 31 pictures installed on the frame.

The only difference on the 40 from 31 is all length

I would appreciate that, thanks. I might have a k5 tank sitting at my Dad's house, gotta go look for it

with the axle moving forward 8" there's a pretty good chance the burb tank will fit.
