I am working on doing a rear leaf spring conversion on my 1990 burb. I will be the the ORD shackle flips soon and have a pretty good idea how to install the 57in springs my moving the rear shackle back slightly. But has anyone done this conversion with a 64in spring and if so how was it done to keep the axle in the same location

I used a 64s on my burb.

Had to move front and rear hangers. Dont remember how much tho.
The spring and shackle flip rides real nice

Okay. Figuring out how far things have to move shouldnt be to hard but im curious how did you move the front ones with a body mount right in front of the hanger?

I cut that body mount off and attached it after. There isn't a bolt in it if i remember and it just supports the body. I think the front went forward 5 inches or so

To be honest my reason for the 57s was because they have the offset pin which doesn't require moving the front hanger. That just sounds like more work than I wanted, and I was already on the edge about just linking my rear anyways.

Are guys bending heavier spring rate 57s in burbs Ryan? The ones I bought were like the 2nd lightest ones on the chart.

Actually adam i think im going to go with the 57in ones. I was doing research on springs that people had put in their suburbans used. I didnt catch that. And with that few extra inches idk if the 64 is worth it for me. Im just going to order some 57s. Do you know the company you went through??

Well the 63/64 springs are factory 2500 springs and they are very heavy duty....and i feel just right with the over load. And even in they wear out brand new ones are only $125 each

Just to remind myself, these were a direct bolt-in, right?

My burb rides on the overleaf constantly. So I'm gonna have to deal with this eventually...

You gotta move the rear shackle hanger back. Alas the super epic shackle flip mod I did with the fab bushings that all you fockers loved  :flipoff7:

I used the 4/1 25"/32" ones with the 1655 spring rate. Although I must say you will need a real shock and bump stop set up to handle these. They are very soft and if you had crappy shocks and no/bad located bumps i could see them fatiguing super fast. Heck they may not work in the end for me, I only have one dune trip on them so far. But they were like $240 shipped to my door, so I dont really care if I have to buy another set :haha:

I do have ruffstuff spring perches, and I think i did move my axle back so it was in the front hole of the perch, to center the axle more in the wheel well.

Oh, that fiasco. :doah: I had forgotten that was for this. Does that mean that I need to do such a kludge job if I go this route? :dunno:

No you can just move the hanger back and drill new holes.

I just wanted to include some dimples in it
