How well does the rear A/C work on 73-91 Suburbans? How is it compared to 92-99 Suburbans w/ the ac vents above each row of seating? I am looking for a new family hauler/expedition vehicle and having rear ac is must. I currently live in the desert, and will be moving to Texas next summer, so AC is a must between the kids and the dogs.

Works well. On Hi, it blows strong. If you buy one, I recomend that you open it up and really clean the blower fins and vents etc.

what he said^^^

the rear unit on my old 86 put out more cold air than the front...hit me in the head in the drivers seat...:waytogo::waytogo:

in fact, I salvaged it to put in my 90. :pimp:

I guess it's a consensus, my '88 model blows plenty cold with great volume. I just had the windows tinted (has factory dark tint also) I could not believe how much difference it made in cooling down the interior. Highly recomended.

I replaced the smaller diameter Line that runs from the engine bay to the rear under the truck. Not too hard, I recommend some safety goggles for all the dust that will fall in your face

I tried to charge the system on my 1989 and it blew the low side line.

Sounds like there is something else wrong with the system. Im currently replacing most of the mail components. Hopefully it works out well.

No, it was just rusty, and the pressure of the refrigerant blew the line. I was just charging it to find the leaks. I found a big one....

Awesome, At least you were able to visually identify where your line blew. I hate the invisible problems.
