I got a roof rack yesterday for $80.00. This rack is 5 1/2 ft long and about 4 ft wide. Weighs 85 lbs.:doah:I dont know how Im going to mount this thing yet. But, it will involve drilling a bunch of holes in the roof.:doah: It will house many lights and who knows what else. I need to buy a bunch of light tabs from Diy4x.

Im not sure how an 85lb. rack will hold up to the roof though. will soon find out. I just made a new headliner so I need this on there first.

Here it is.

I was thinkin about three or four mounts on each side. Dont know yet.The rails I think would add more height. I want it as low as possible. thanks

maybe some flat stock down the sides and across the top. the more distributed you can do the better.

Maybe a mount like this, I could adjust it.

That mount looks perfect. Really, the farther to the sides you can mount, the stronger the roof is. Not sure you really need the rails if you hit the stronger parts of the roof.

I was thinking more of a 1/4" x 2" strip than a tube. Should keep it low profile, relatively light (we are talking about a kinda heavy rack that will be loaded with some additional weight) and still spread the weight well.

Maybe you could just do the mounts with a large footprint and get a similar result.

My con-ferr rack uses mounts like those, I've had it loaded bigtime with 0 issues. I wouldn't worry at all, just use the expandable rubber nut serts (home depot has em) and run it. Mine hasn't leaked either.

How sturdy are they? I just see a picture. This rack is steel. Heavy SOB. Thanks. They are solid your saying huh. OK. Thanks bud!!

Would this work. From Lowes.
