Suburban tailpan support

I see no one has replied to your post. I looked because I'm about to try that repair myself. I got GM panel from gmpartsdirect.com, though there are after market ones available from places like LMC Truck. The GM panel cost about $200, but it's exactly correct. There are several bolts accross the sill, bolting the bed pan to the sill panel, and four bolts on each end, bolting the sill panel to the inner quarters. You will of course, have to replace the rear-most body bushings at position 6. I'll let you know how it goes. Mine is an '88 V-10 model.

Yeah, that's it. I'm at work now. But, if you need the p/n I can get it for you.

any time you can get to it id appreciate the part number.

is the inner supports including or is it just the outer piece??

Yes, it's all one piece. The bed pans bolt to it, and the rear valance panel goes behind the bumper, where the splash shield screws into that part.
The LMC part number, out of the CSB.13 Catolog, is 38-7989. Their price is $139.95, plus shipping. The GM part number is 15606605. The price from gmpartsdirect.com was $166.05, plus shipping. I bought the GM part in October and paid $36.35 for S&H.

No pics now, I'm afraid. This turned into a monster project. I'm replacing both rear quarter panels, as well as the body bushings. I'll be lucky if I'm done by Spring. I never did this before and am learning as I go. You need to replace the rear bushings when you do the tail pan, so you have to loosen the rest, which means you'll probably replace them too. I wish I recruited some help before I started.

Check Ebay. their is a company selling those pan supports for 110$ shiped. I bought one but haven't installed it yet. Looks good laying in the third row seat though :D

Anyone find a How-To tbread on replacing this?
