In regards to a 1990 Chevy Suburban V2500 3/4ton 8 lug:
In a post on the forum Pirate4x4 I asked about different opinions and experience with welded rear ends, which I got a pretty good feedback on.
But in the same post I also stated that I'm gonna put in a Quick Lok (it says Lok and not Lock on the box...) from Genuine Gear Inc in the front axle.
But I am strongly adviced NOT to put the Quick Lok/Lock in there, as they have a tendency to brake and are described as crap in general...

Is it really that bad? Should I toss it away, or are there anyone with good experiences with this locker?
It seemed like a good choice from what I read on Norwegian Forums, but over in the US it seems like a definitive "NO-NO"...?!?!

Anyone?

Thanks!

I've seen a few 10 bolt Quik-locks break, they aren't very strong.

IIRC they only have a 31" or 33" limit on tire size for their warranty, that tells you a lot.

I'm only going 33x12.5x16.5 on my Burb. Would that be safe in regards to the locker then?

Thanks!

I agree with Chris, you should be fine with those tires and the wet wheeling you guys do over there. Most guys on here don't like them because most of us run tires that are 25" or larger and a lot of us are rockcrawling with them, which "tests" a lot of parts.:D

Thanks guys! I'll give it a go then.
Now I have another Burb for parts, so in case of carnage, I'm safe:D

Anyway, as a friend of mine says "destruction can be quite fun!"...:wink1:

Thanks!
