Subwoofers in K5's

I used to have a giant box that sat behind the back seat that housed (3) 10WV2's and I had dual Arc Audio amps mounted to the side of the box. I realized how heavy all that crap was when I took the box out a couple weeks ago.

When I go to re-install my system I will put a 10WV2 in the side paneling all the way in the back in the old speaker location, on each side, with them firing towards each other. I realize that makes them somewhat cancel out each other's sound wave, but I'm not looking for monster bass like I did when I was a kid. I am still stumped where I am going to stash my two amps where they would be hidden from view.

hiding amps is difficult
under the seat is always nice
but it's the first thing to get wet (power wire too) in a deep crossing
if you are willing to cut out one mount from each rear fender, you can hide them inside the quarter panels provided there is air movement in there.

Personally, I may just do a couple of 10s or 8s like you said. Then some 6x9 and 6.5s somewhere else. It hard finding a spot up front.

As far as sub, if i do that to the k5 im just gonna use one 10. I kinda regret putting the amp in my 83 to be honest, has the cool factor, but then again im just using two rear infinity kappa6x9s with two 10ohm stock 3.5s up front. As soon as these brackets get in though i have a pair of infinity kappa 6.5's to go up front in the kicks!

how do those mount? I see no screw holes. And what if I ditched the stock plastic panels that were there.

they suggest velcro, but jcampbell (on here) used automotive style interior screws which i plan to use as well. And if you ditched the stock panels (They have them for stock silverado and non silverado interiors) then im not sure what to tell ya.

In my burb, i fit a small Alpine mono amp behind my spare tire.

I ran 8 12's on an 1800.1 until I put the cage in my truck and my amp crapped out.

other than giving up all the cargo area
that thing must ride super smooth :)

It was like a caddy.

3/4 inch MDF doubled up all the way around pluss 250+ pounds of sub. I don't know what it adds up to but it took three guys to load and unload the box.

I had a pre runner look going.:)

that amp is no longer located there either, mounted behind the box, basically hidden from view.

It rattles everything on the truck :doah:

What?

Not sure what you are asking. Yes, that is a ported box.

:D i wasn't sure why you were commenting about it being ported is all, was wondering what was on your mind.

That box was built and the whole system was installed by a pro shop, small shop, not the retail chains. I was originally going to go with 4 - 12's, but cost was limiting somewhat, the dude recommended this setup after several discussions as to what i was looking for.

Was a cool guy, had done several competition setups in the past. The box is suppose to be made to spec for volume of each speaker and it's ported setup.

It truly does sound amazing, although i really don't run with the power levels up as high as i used to anymore. It's more there now for a nice even sounding level.

Got it. Haven't played with ported boxes much.

Seems like it might be a little excessive just for "a nice even sounding level" :thumb:
