I built an 87 Wrangler with Chevy power, axles, suspension, cage, etc. about 5 years ago, sadly have only gotten it offroad once and instead put 5,000 street miles on it....my lifestyle has changed and I want to get out of it. Is it reasonable to think I can find someone with a driver-condition 1st Generation K5 that would trade me even-up? ....or am I dreaming?

I suppose a pic or two would help, but I still cant post pics unless I make some more posts... I have some hosted pics if someone wants to post them for me.

Doesn't sound like an unreasonable trade $ wise. However, being that there's not a whole lot of 1st gens out there, the hard part will be finding somebody that has one who wants to get rid of it and needs a jeep. My suggestion would be to sell the jeep, then take the cash and buy a blazer.

Yip, sell what you have. And then take the money and find what you want. More than likely you can sell locally, but you may have to really search around (outa state) to find what you want. That is why Trading would be a major PITA , unless you get lucky

Thanks for the thoughts. I would like to find someone who is stoked about owning my Jeep as I would be about owning and driving a clean 1st gen. K5...

Search Jeep Vortec on desmoines craiglist if anybody wants to evaluate my advertisement and price, which I have at $15,000. Thanks-

the year and stuff would help alot. theres alot of jeeps on there:D

It should be the only one that comes up by searching "Jeep Vortec" on desmoines dot craiglist dot org. ?

It is a 1987 with a 2001 5.3 Vortec and 4L60E, NP241 with SYE, High Angle Driveline 1350 to 1410, Dana 60/Detroit 5.13 gears 35 spline Moser Axles...

looks like a pretty sweet ride. but yea a first gen would be sweeter:haha: your better off selling it. you have alot of money put into it

I think you would be better off advertising out here in the west for a trade /sale.
That is a real nice Jeep. I dont really like jeeps but yours is a very well built machine.
There are some real clean rust free Blazers out here. Think about C/L advertising in Salt Lake city, Boise, Las Vegas, Reno, Phoenix,. ECT. IMO Your chances of trading for a clean 1st gen k5 are better out here than in the east/Midwest.
