Yesterday I finished my first welding project of the summer, a welding cart. Thought I'd share the pictures with you.

Materials:
Wheels from an old hand dolley we had laying around
1.25"x6' angle
1"x6' (x2) angle
1"x4' angle
3/16"x4' rod
24"x12" expanded steel

All I have left to do is make a little sheetmetal bin that fits in the area right in front of the welder to hold my contact tips, etc.
There are a couple of more pics here.

Expect more "Summer 2004 Welding Projects" to follow...

That's nice! I would have liked to make something bigger (like with a small metal welding table on it, etc), but the space in my garage didn't allow for it. I needed to make mine pretty compact. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Cool welding cart. I actually JUST finished making mine about 20 minutes ago. I got tired of lugging it around with the bottle, so I had to do something. I don't have any steel laying around for a cart. So, when I saw this oe that matched my Lincoln, I beat up the bum who was pushing it through Golden Gate Park. (J/K!!) It was actually abandoned near my house after the Bay To Breakers.

This one is only temporary until I get some steel to weld up something more suitable. But I think it will work out sweet until then.

A welding shopping cart... weld steel while you shop /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thanks for the props, fellas. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif It does look pretty cool. I cut the side out too so that I can change wire reels without lugging the welder up out of the cart. The only thing I don't like is how the lead for the gun sticks out in front of the cart, ready for me to walk/stumble by and damage it. If I was gonna do it again, I think I'd mount the bottle at the front of the cart, and then remove that part in the back that folds up when you push another cart in from behind, and set the welder in facing out the open back of the cart. But, all in all, it's sweet!!! Now I need to make a long extension cord, I only have a pigtail coming straight out of the bottom of my breaker panel. It is an 8' pigtail tho'-
