Has anybody ever run the summit heater thinking of getting one for heat and defrost are they good or should I go with name brand.

JC whitney has a cheapo that I thought about getting. I just want some heat for the feet. A defrost would be nice also in times.

Well nevermind. They arnt that cheap at all.

I saw a heater setup in a Suzuki Sammy in the junk yard that looked pretty promising.

The one in the FJ40 Landcruiser also looks pretty good. The hose hookups are on the side and the defrost flap is part of the unit.

Also check out the rear heater from '73-91 Suburbans. It was an option, so you won't find it in every rig, but the one in my '90 throws some SERIOUS heat! The heater hoses connect straight down through the floor. You could grab the heater box, wiring and dash switch pretty cheap from the junkyard. :)
