Summit is too damn cool.

I order from Summit for most of my parts. I have 3 free hats and 1 free weiand t-shirt. Also, everytime I make an order over $200 they give me a $10 or $20 discount off my next order! I really like the make sure it fits your application part of their site. I just wish their pictures would be of each and every specific part. There are parts that Jegs has the Summit doesn't have but it may only be a manufacturer deal.

I will be ordering more stuff from them this week. Usually gets to my house in 3 days.

ok update:
called powertrax, they did send the wrong part, the correct part number for a dana 60 style lock right rebuild or spring kit is 1038350KAS incase anybody wants to search that down the road
summit told me to refuse the package when it gets here and ill get a refund, they are waving the shipping charges for the 2nd correct item i just ordered and i just paid them for it. pretty darn good, summit wins again

my last order from summit was a set of poly body bushings, ordered friday at 4pm, 10am saturday, the fedex guy dropped off the package. i expected it monday (because im next day on anything from the ohio warehouse), but never on saturday.
not to mention a free hat. :waytogo:

Have you tried searching by part number on Summit with the part number you found on Jegs. I've done that before.

Before Summit's most recent changes to their search, I usually had better luck finding it on Jegs. Then I would just use the part number to find it on Summit to buy it.

I've been ordering from Summit for ten years now. Before they even had a handling charge or shipping charge. My Dad has been ordering from them for as long as I can remember.

There have been a few times they've pissed me off (substituting stuff like red bushings for black when I clearly wanted black, not telling me I'd have to call them to get them to ship to a third party address) but overall have always been happy with them.

I live only about 15 minutes from summit's main office in Ohio. I've gone in there asking for some of the most outragous and off the wall parts and they have always had it!! Thier prices are pretty decent and the customer service is awsome!! I'll drive the 15 minutes to go to summit before i'd drive to the local napa!

Well, 454 is in and runs like a bat out of hell...I never knew what power felt like till now. Only a few minor issues during install. Wired up a push button starter instead of trying to figure out the diesel ignition. My buddy hooked up the spark plug wires one position off on the distributor, after we figured that out it fired right up. Broke in the cam and all was well. Had issues making the '83 hydroboost lines work with the '79 hydro boost pump I had. Flare fittings on the '79 stuff and o-ring on the '83. My buddy tried to make a hose with about 6 hose clamps holding it together....He happened to be standing in the engine compartment when it exloded on him. :haha: Ended up getting a hose made with the o-ring fitting on one end and the flare fitting on the other. $56. We scratched our heads for awhile trying to think off a good way to flush the diesel out of the tanks. Then my buddy came up with the idea to put the air nozzle from the air compressor on the return line from the fuel pump and see if the fuel came out of the supply line, which worked so well it emptied 4 gallons of diesel out of the tank in about 5 minutes. Pressurizing the system like that did find a leak in one of the tanks though. There was a small dent in one of the tanks with a small crack in the dent. Doesn't leak with no pressure in it though...lol

Well anyways, the big block put a huge smile on my face....for the entire 45 minutes I got to drive it. I was out driving around about an hour ago, enjoying the power and being proud of myself for putting the cam in correctly, adjusting the valves correctly, getting it to run right etc, when the Summit brand water pump siezed up, which bent the studs holding the fan to the pully, which sent the fan into the radiator like a rototiller. I was motoring up a hill at about 55mph when it happened, scared me so bad I almost had a seizure. A CHP officer stopped, pushed me off the road and gave me a ride home.:1zhelp:

Now I need another new water pump, a radiator, and a new fan. Not to mention a couple more gallons of anti-freeze and the hassle of getting a ride for me and my tools to the truck, which is about 10 miles away, and changing the water pump on the side of the road. I sure hope Summit makes this right...I'm alittle pissed off at them.

Brand new water pump? wow! Thats some damage! I recomend using a Weiand water pump. remember you get what you pay for.

Call up Summit and tell them what happened, I think they will at least give you store credit.

Nice job with the engine though.
