Buying some new tires within the next week. Have it narrowed down to either super swamper m16s or toyo open country mt's. Cant decide between the two. m16s are newer style, cheaper and weigh about 20lbs less per tire than the toyo. Toyos have longer tread life (from what ive read), not as aggressive lugs, and are $$$ more and heavy, but i still like them. Im getting a 37". Anyone think one is better than the other??...

Skip both of those and get some mtr's or geolander's. I have had both. Very good tires.

Toyos are street tires with a mud tire look.

M16s look like mall terrains. I haven't driven or know anybody with them though.

I've run geolanders before on an old toyota tacoma i used to have, but didnt like them enough to buy another set. I really havent found anyone who has run the m16's, so i'd def. like to get an opinion on them b4 i just rule them out all together. mtr is a good choice too

yeah, friend of mine had them on his 2008 f150. It had 37s and he said they were LOUD. I rode with him a few times and they were ok, I really dont like the tread on them that much though.

I always thought that the toyo MT was a good looking poser tire....till I tried a set. I have used them in deep snow and some mud and they really impressed me. I have seen them used in deep mud (deep enough to cover 37s) and they worked really good. I don't think they will last quite like they claim (unless you run them till absolutely bald), but I am betting they will last a lot longer than anything that is aggressive as they are.

Only experience I have with the M16's is a guy that used to live around the corner from me had a smaller set under his Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummin pickup.

He said they wore fast and he regretted buying them.

Another observation is other than his truck a few years ago I haven't seen a single set in person. Not popular. Personally I put them somewhere around the Thornturd. Looks before function.

I have however heard the Toyo MT's work well also that they are heavy.

Yeah, as to be expected with a super swamper, they do wear fast even though interco "claims" that the m16 is made of harder compound and wears slower. To date, i have never seen a set of m16s in person either. But ive seen lots or toyos, so they must be a decent tire.

i've had real good look with the geolander MT's on my s10. i've takin them everywhere - mud, sand, rocks and trails. thats a lot lighter rig though. runnin 35x12.5. good tires.
