i switched from TBI to carb with my new motor, and with the older style alernator,it has the 2 blade plug in it, and i found out one wire is the for regulation, then i found out that if u leave it unpluged it will "internally regulate itself" which it has been(i think),but tonight, it started surging and my head lights and dash were reeeeally bright,it topped out my gauge when it surged at 18v, so i parked it so i dont fry anything, does anyone know where to hook up the wire to properly regulate the alternator, i tried the battery, that doesnt work, any ideas?

thanks man, i think my internal regulator fried, seems weird, its a brand new alternator/engine about 3 monthes ago. maybe a dud?

Always buy alternators and starters with lifetime warranty. They can be fresh from the reman farm and not work right.
