Who carries it with them? Do you you knot or braid your own? If yes, what's your favorite knot/braid? Have you ever had to use it while in the outdoors?

I carry it all the time. My family carries it also. Luckily we have yet to have to rely on it.
We knot them ourselves. It started as a project for the boy and I to be crafty with mom. She didn't really find an interest in it till the last couple months though. She's been getting the hang of it. Brycen still can't start to finish but can do all of the length in a cobra weave. We've done a few others that are cool, but I foret the names right now. My newest favorite is a round braid. Makes a nice leash and if you do it right can be worked into many other knots and braids.

Check out that thread.
we've had a few good threads on it but they're all over in the shooting range.

i have a partial roll of 550 cord i reappropriated befor i got out of the army. never needed it for more than tieing crap down.

I would think a decent pocket knife would serve you much better if you ever got stuck out in the woods. It'd serve me better at least :dunno:.

usually anyone that would be worried bout having rope, already carries a knife.

Love that move!

Yes, lots of good stuff in the SR paracord thread Smokin mentioned. Looks like I forgot to post "how tos" for those knots I mentioned. Had my youngest daughter make some new zipper pulls for the tent when we were camping a couple weeks ago. Going to teach her GS troop to make Turks-heads for their flag pole next.

I took paracord and made a tiny hole in my jacket. I used a safety pin to thread it around the base of my jacket on the inside. I put 100ft on the inside and just have the safety pin sticking out. Stays out of the way, helps hold my jacket down even, and I don't have to mess with untying knots to use it. Just pull out any I need, cut it, put it back in the hole and safety pin it back.
