I would say go with what your truck demands. Ask yourself some questions. Will the truck drive to the trail head or be trailered? Will you be driving the truck to work or on the street at all? What kind of terrain will you encounter when off hiway?
For the record I have used the BFG M/T tires for most of my excursions and never had an issue. I aired down no more than to 10 PSI on the trail with them. Have had to make the jump to swampers now. I can tell you the jump in unsprung weight on the truck is noticable.

38x14.5-15 TSL-SX if you want the biggest, toughest tire that will last longer than an IROK, ride better than a Bogger and have more sidewall protection than a TSL. If you do happen to puncture the sidewall though, feel comfortable knowing that you can patch it within a few inches of the bead /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Try that with a radial /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

well atleast you are looking at the right brand of tires now you want to decide which set to run.
you have to remember there is nowhere in the US that has the type of mud that alaska has just check some of your local boards and see what they are running on there fullsize rigs.
BGREEN fromm alaska offroad runs 45" good year tractor tires that are 18" wide
gus from the same site runs the same type of tires and so does most of the hard core wheeling guys up there. oh theres also the terra tires but they dont make them tall enough.

so in my opinion if I still lived up there I would run a set of grooved 44" boggers on the rear with beadlocks so you could air them way down to have a bigger contact patch and a set of 44" TSLs for the front beadlocked and your steering would be easier if you dont have hyro asist. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

the boggers in the back are for forward momentum bcause of the really aggressive lugs.
Then the TSL in the front is to steer easier, because on some rigs they don't have enough power the steer and spin the boggers at the same time.

Thinks for the replies. I am looking at 35's or 36's- and width of 12.5 to 14.5. I will be driving it to the trails. This is not a daily driver so I am willing to sacrifice on road comfort for better off road performance.
BobWilliams- I have checked out the rigs up here- including the Freak (bgreen's rig) and spoke with Gus last night about tires. Both are running bigger than I want but have awesome rigs. The reason I am looking at TSL's are because of a run I was on up here and a couple Jeeps with TSL's were doing just as well as my buddies Boggers. However, the SX's are sounding pretty good as well. I like the idea of the side lugs. Decisions, Decisions. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif Guess it is time to do some pricing. Man shipping nails us up here. TSL's would be a good choice, best pricing, most sizes, will do everything you want! I like my SSR's, however I got them thinking I would do more street driving (which I don't) so I wish I had gotten TSL's now.
