Im thinking of swaping the 700r4 for a th400. Just want some feedback on that thanks. 88 k5 350/700/208/3/4 ton setup 5.13s front rear detroits 38" tsl

That is what I am going to do when my current 700R4 goes. It is pretty easy if you plan on sticking with the 208 tcase. The Th400/208 & 700R4/208 combo are the same length so your driveshafts will work with no mods. The difference is the 208 is a 32 spline behind a Th400 & it is a 27 spline behind a 700R4. You can either get a 32 spline case or swap the input gear of the 208 to 32 spline to get it to bolt up to the Th400.

Beyond that you will just need the standard parts. Tranny, dipstick, dustshield, possibly crossmember, & figure out how to shift it & get the kickdown to work.

I am gonna servce the 700 new filter and some lucas if that works ill stick with for allitle while longer. i recently did some wheelin and i think the trans got really hot. it was slipping from 2nd to 3rd. then all of a sudden it works fine. so its on and off like that. I have a 400 sitting so i figured it woulded be that hard to swap it out. I have a floor shifter, just need and adapter for the 208 case, i have a 1 ton cv shaft so i have allittle to play with
