Since I am keeping my K10 now anyone know what it takes to swap it from a 2 headlight to a 4? I have a whole 87 clip with the grill etc in it but I don't know what the wiring requires and if the whole core support needs replaced?

If you have the complete core support and grill for a 4 headlight setup i would use it. As far as wiring you would need new plugs for the headlights and just run the high beam wire to the high beam and low beam to low beam and good grounds, should be pretty easy.

It is a complete clip with the wiring, fenders hood etc. Infact it still has a battery, overflow, radiator and condenser in it. I loved cash for clunkers. Also took the stepside box, and doors from the same truck.

If you've got the wiring, should be able to de-pin the firewall connector for what you have, and plug in the four headlight setup.

The reason people run relays to boost the headlight effectiveness (and why the swap should be easy for you) is because GM used two very small wires to power the headlights...one for high beams, one for low beams. On high, all four headlights are running off of that one tiny wire. Looking at some of the headlights available (and they are not really fancy lights) you see almost 5A per bulb.

GM simply added a pigtail to the top light socket to run the 4 headlight system lower bulbs on high only, re-pinning the two wires on the firewall connector should be a no brainer.

Yes, you need to replace the core support, and you should just be able to unplug your firewall connector, pop the OEM headlight harness out of it, put the one out of your '87 in it, and put it back together.

I wonder if jake cut the harness or just unplugged it.

That wasn't my side marty I unhooked the battery from the engine, cut the radiator hoses, unhooked the a/c and my side was done.

do you need a good 4 headlight rad support? i have a real good one and was trying to find a reason not to throw it away.

Nope I have a whole 87 rust free clip that I got from the president.
