I searched but didn't find anything definitive.

When swapping a 6.2 into a K5 that had a SBC, what all parts besides the engine itself are needed? I know the hydroboost setup is necessary. What else? Radiator? I know the 6.2 is heavier...are the springs from a diesel truck needed as well, or will the stock springs work just fine?

Thanks, and if there's already a thread detailing this, please link it and I'll read through it thoroughly.

Hydroboost and the radiator for sure, sine the rad is bigger on a diesel, and has a factory oil cooler in it...front springs wont care if its a 350,454 or a 6.2,they are the same weight practically,my '82 only has the 2 leaf springs up front and they hold up the diesel and a plow without a problem.......................................................................................................................................................................................................You may want to retain the fuel tank,or at least the tank sending unit and fuel filter off the diesel donor truck,so you can keep the water in fuel sensor working and have ability to drain water from the tank (they had a factory drain valve near the front rear spring hanger to drain any water out of the tank plumbed into the sending unit),and if the dash cluster is intact you'll want that in order to have the sensor light for the water in fuel lamp and the glow plug "on" light too...and the "Diesel Fuel Only" gas gauge..(not a must have, but it helps remind you NOT to put GAS in it any more!)..you'll want the glow plug relay and wiring unless you want to make a Ford solenoid work with a manual push button to energize the glow plugs too....

Rad/mounts/shroud
Fuel filter/water separator...Racor is hard to go wrong with.
Hydro-boost assembly
Engine harness is handy, but not needed.
Driver's side batt tray and 2 matching batteries.

SBC exhaust bolts up to the 6.2 manifolds...just an FYI
SBC engine mounts work fine.

6.2 weight is more than a SNC, less than a BBC to give you a rough idea.

Your going to need the fuel filter that goes on the firewall.

you can use these...get rid of the old troublesome stock unit. I'm gonna swap at the next filter change...:waytogo:

My '85 Burb has a Racor filter someone put on it--I'd rather have the stock GM one like my '82 k2500 has with the Wix 33123 filter--the Raycor filters aren't readily available at stores and are expensive, and the unit is made of plastic, looks like it would break very easily...doesn't hold much fuel compared to the Wix one either...I'm not that impressed with Raycor filters,if the truck didn't have a spare cartridge that fits it come with it,I'd have already ditched it probably...

I may have posted a few threads about this around 2003 or so when I did the swap in a 79 K10.

 Hadn't thought about the filter. Is that the NAPA filter base? i got one and used it for a coolant filter from flrrtfilter.com, way cheaper than the local NAPA.

The fuel filter & base can be had from several sources,Wix sells them,NAPA sells them under their own brand name too,and I have seen "Perma-Cool" brand ones in Jegs and Summit catalogs for about 35 bucks with a water separator filter....they look almost identical to the stock 1982 filter and base on my truck that takes the 33123 Wix filter..
