Swapping in a TBI vortec 350 in an old K5....

Thanks for all the ideas!
I've forwarded the info to my friend, and I think he will use a carb and then try to get his hands on a th700 instead.

There are some used 4L60E trannys around over here, but 99% of them seems to be for 2wd...:doah:

And we'll take a closer look on it to see if it's really a gen1 engine.
Not that it wouldn't be cool if it was an LS engine :D

He said it was a truck though. a 2000 Chevy 1500 pickup would have a 5.3, or a 4.8 for a V8.

However things may be different with whats available in sweeden. I have no knowledge in that area.

No, there were old body style GMT400 trucks well into 2000 model year even after the GMT800 trucks were introduced in 1999 as not all GM truck assembly plants changed to the new body style at once. The Texas plant that also builds SUV’s was still building GMT400 trucks until 2000. There were actually GMT400 HD-3500 trucks until 2001. The GMT400 trucks were sold as “Classics” in 1999 and 2000. I worked for GM in Detroit during the GMT800 launch (remember “The Truck” campaign when the Silverado launched with Kal Ripken was the Silverado spokesman?). It was a fun time to work at Chevrolet and deal with the juggling of two different body style trucks being built at the same time. Same thing happened in 2007 when the latest GM GMT900 POS trucks came out. They still offered the GMT800 well into 2007 as….you guessed it….a “Classic” model. This has nothing to do with the being and export. There are no clear break points for body style changes anymore. 2014 will be a repeat of the last body style changes. New and old trucks will built at the same time for the first year or so.
