sway bar crossmember removal

I need to ditch my sway bar crossmember for some clearance issues. You can see here in the pic I have a winch plate welded in less than 10 inches from the crossmember. Obviously this rig isn't never going to see a sway bar (at least not a factory one) Anyone see a reason why not to remove it, to to replace it with one made of tube. Ideally would not be replacing it. My plan is to hopefully change the water pump out to a short style water pump and mount a 26x18 2 row AL radiator up front with a tube cradle for it, topped off with a spal low profile electric fan.

With the addition of the winch and your plan for another crossmember, I don't see why not. The factory steering box mounts near there, and the aftermarket braces tie into it, but looks like you don't have a factory steering gear anyway.

I took mine out on my long gone '76 SWB. I also have the engine crossmember out at the same time cause I was replacing it with the ORD one.

My frame rails were all over the place when I was working on it lol, I think a tube one would be a good upgrade, the only othere thing bolted to it besides the sway bar mounts is the prop valve for the brakes which should be easy enough to relocate.

You gonna use some 2" tube or?

I took mine out on my 73 Blazer wheeled it several years with no adverse effects.

I did not replace it but had a serious front crossmember/winch mount

I have a Diy4x orbital mount that bolts in that place but my move the orbital closer up towards me this time round.

I really don't want to replace it as the whole front end is a cage. only thing left is stock hood, the rest is tube

Cut frame off at rear spring hangers, replace with tube,Links, Coils, Done .....Or take the easy way out and remove and replace with tube. What about running two tubes at a 45* from the winch bracket back to the frame?

Oh and rewind your cable, it's a mess.

Sure, come over and plant that money tree in my yard that you obviously have growing in yours.

the 2 tubes running back may work out, just gotta look at things.
