I've been looking into getting a sway bar disconnect, but am confused about a few things. The one I am looking at is from off-road design and it says it will give it 2 inches of lift (i think). Do they give you lift? I already have a 2 inch lift on my truck, Add-A-Leafs in front and 2 inch blocks in the rear. If I gained another 2 inches out front wouldnt I have to add 2 more inches int he rear? It might look kinda goofy if I didnt...

It won't add any lift, it accounts for a couple inches of lift (it raises the sway bar mount up 2" to compensate for lift).

Most people just take the sway bar off. I didn't notice a difference without it.

I took mine off. With 4" springs up front they are stiff enough that i dont even notice it is off on the street. I would recomend taking it off

Mine has the factory original springs, never been changed, and sagging in the rear. I still didn't notice any difference without the sway bar.

Oh great, another debate on whether or not you need a swaybar.

The original question was whether or not ORD's disconnects lift the front end. The answer is no.
ORD website said:
It corrects by raising the back of the swaybar two inches to help compensate for a lift and also by adding a pivot point to keep your swaybar from binding up the front suspension.

I think youll find the majority here just take the sway bar off. It did make a small difference in my K5, but only if I really swerve hard. ORD says the flex is 50% better with it off & thats about right from what I've seen. The only downside to the disconnects I've heard is they can be a pain to reconnect after wheeling.

Ok, well seeing as I like to take my corners at high rates of speed and sort of want that front end stability when driving in the snow (favorite terrain), I think I'm ganna go with the disconnect. I also maybe driving the truck 200 miles or so on the freeway a few times a year back and forth to school. So either way it couldnt hurt and its a cheap upgrade!

The quick disconnect kit will correct the sway bar if you have a lift. If you have the sway bar drop brackets, you will most likely have to take them off in order to use the disconnect kit from ORD. I had to on mine anyways. Like everyone else I ended up just ditching the sway bar completely. With soft alcans up front theres a lot of body roll but its a full size blazer and I can live with it. I do a 500 mile trip from home to school 4 times a year with no complaints except a startling gas bill:eek1:

I agree, i kept my sway bar and I am happy about it. My truck sees quite a bit of highway use bringing me backand forth on weekends and i drive pretty fast too.

I have ZERO body roll as well, and that is important for what I need the truck for.

I also Got a rear sway bar that was put on because the origanal owner use to pull a 25 foot camper with it. I found a camper key when i replaced the carpet, and my uncle who i bought the truck off of is friends with the origanal owner
