Sway Bar Removal?

I am headed to Moab in March for the first time in my K-5 I have been there and wheeling 8 times but always took one of my Jeeps! Now am taking my k-5 with a 4 inch regular ole rough country lift and 35 inch tires. should I disconnect or remove my sway bar and any thing else to be more capable in the rocks etc? any advise is appreciated!
 
I removed mine when I added 1" zero rate blocks to the front axle and noticed it drives 97% the same as without. The 3% difference is it seems to ride smoother somehow and feels like it leans just a touch more on really twist roads at speed.

I won't be putting mine back on.
 
Loose the sway bar. The rough country leaves are stiff enough to not need it. Double check your brake line length after removal, it should flex a little better. Keep an eye on axle wrap in the rear. Moab rocks have plenty of traction to wreck a rear u-joint.

Enjoy Moab, I was there last March for spring break. It was just warming up enough to have a really good time without any crowds.
Full size invasion is March 23-27 in Moab this year.
 
If you want the disconnect I have one set in box slightly used.

My first time in Moab I ripped a sway bar frame bushing off. 4" lift with 33s. No sway bar any more.

Most brakelines are too short.
I run "12inch lift" lines on my 5" lift truck

Also run 52/56" leaves. Sway bar is overrated.
 
my 1st truck had 6" skyjackers and no sway bar on 36" bias swampers no problems .

i have done sway bar disconects on others and it works great to have bar but also it keeps the bar from binding up like stock setup .

let us know when your tired of the RUFF ride of them springs and want better ride and flex . :deal:
 
The truck wheels better without the swaybar 100%, so the goal should be to wheel with it removed or with a set of disconnects (disconnected). BEFORE your real wheeling trip, take that sway bar off and flex it out while steering to see what hits. Then you can rectify the issues without being a trail plug in Moab.

You can/should search here, but the stock swaybar doesn't actually work right with lift springs and makes the truck ride bad. A set of disconnects isn't just for the disconnect option, but also lets the swaybar actually work right without binding the suspension into a stiff ride.
