i was wondering if im going to need to run a sway bar in front or are the lift spring stiff enough. it a ord 4in lift. because i need to buy some d60 u bolt top plates. i pretty new to this all so some help would be cool.

I've never run a sway bar on any of my lifted Chevy trucks. Haven't had any problems so far.

run a sway bar with a disconnect. On the highway and speed, it makes a difference. Helps stop roll overs. They're good for on road and bad for off road.

When I put my 4" springs on, my sway bar links weren't long enough to fit back and work right, so I took the sway bar and it's brackets off. I don't notice too much body roll at roll and my articulation is great. My springs are Tuff Country EZ Rides, by the way, which are the softest you can get as far as I know. I also have a heavy bumper and winch (about 200 lbs. total).

matter of opinion really, drive with it off see if u notice a difference. but they didnt put it on there for looks, and they are still putting sway bars on cars today.

Yes, it's probably a matter of personal taste and driving style as well as how your particular vehicle drives and is set up. My post was about my shortbed pickup. I'm sure it's different for a taller Blazer, especially with the hard top on. The only time I notice any body roll is when I'm going around a pretty sharp curve at a pretty good speed and hit a bump. This will kind of unsettle the suspension a little, but no big deal.

I think Off Road Design offers a sway bar quick disconnect for guys who want to be Jeep drivers.;)

i took min off didnt notice that much of a difference. just need to take turns a lil slower. but later i just bough a quick disconnect kit and now if i ever pull or take a trip its nice having best of both worlds. kit is cheap and after you drive with it off and throw it back on you notice a big difference.:doah: just get the kit:D

I run without and like it. The stock setup feels like it binds pretty easy when I would hit bumps. The ride improved greatly without it.

Get good nitro shocks and you are good to go IMHO...

i ran my 94 yj jeep without it cuz I could take corners on two wheels. That was fun. But not safe at all.

This has been debated to death. Put the lift on, don't reconnect the sway bar, and take it for a spin. Don't do anything stupid but see how you like it. My money is on you'll find your truck handles fine without it. That's been my experience 100% of the time. My wife's DD doesn't even have a front sway bar.
It's on there more for legal reasons than any technical reasons in most cases.

Ditto. Big Ugly with 23 year old 1 ton springs and new Rough Country Nitro 9000 shocks handles just fine. I drive it like an old truck (but not like grandma in an old truck) and it treats me just fine. Drive like a fool and you'll hurt yourself and ruin your truck no matter what safety devices, necessary or not, you have.

here's my take, it is personal taste however they have some uses.

i used ord disconnects on the burb with a soft 4-5" lift. the reasoning behind that is when i flexed it with 31"s on the tire nearly touched the back of the wheel well in the front. now that i have 36"s i keep it connected so that fender contact is kept to a minimum until i can move axle forward trim etc.

the other thing to keep in mind is the sway bars older than 87 were weaker (thinner) and don't help control body roll as much as the 1-1/4 1988-91 sway bars.

so yeah there you go

there were different size sway bars on the older trucks. i believe my is 1 and 1/4 on my 74, and that is stock. im not exactly sure on the size, i just know its a pain to get ahold of the right frame bushings.
