Does anyone know of, or have a set of sway bars for a first gen? Mine get's rock'n real bad on the freeway and needs a set of sway bars. Where can I buy um? Anyone have a set or just one that they want to get rid of? It's for a 1972 GMC Jimmy, 4x4, 350x350xNP203

i don;t think our gen came with sway bars. I modified one to fit from a 2nd get blazer. get the 1-1/4" sway bar. It's not that bad of a adaptation. there are some people who have done this I used the 2nd gen frame brackets but i had to swap them(put the left on the right and the right on the left). Steve Chin fabed his own brackets, i think he has some pics. Burt4x4 has an aftermarket swaybar. I can send you some pics if you want just let me know.

Yup I think it is Addco brand. duno if I spelled that right? I bought it back in 95ish so can't remember realy what I paid. I had to dril two holes per side into the bottom of the frame rail and the bottom of the sway bar bolts to the spring pack. Well I have 5" disconnects inbetween the bar and springpack to keep the bar level. I would get one probly cheaper to just fab the second gen bar and you can get disconnects too!!

Using Gen2 brackets, did you have to pull the front crossmember? I am gettting a complete Gen2 front crossmember, for the brackets, but am considering just replacing the stocker crossmember. You have any pics of your install? Any ideas? Thanks
JB

i did not have to replace the cross member. i do have some pics, i'll post them later today.

Check my web site for some pix of my installation:

I'm also using a Gen2 front bar. The Blazer now corners flatter, but it is tight, so I am looking for a good design of rear bar (not finding one). If I don't find one in a reasonable amount of time, I will probably fab up my own rear bar.

here they are
