Hi,
Been a long work in progress and after the PSC steering box install and replacement along with new steering stabilizer shocks and high steering I am experiencing swaying. Not as bad as before but would really like to button things up and have had several opinions that I would like to share and see what the majority thinks. I understand that chevy has a bit of play in the wheel, but this seems a bit much. I have been told that frame reinforcement would cure this problem I personally do not understand how this would help but always willing to listen to new ideas. The second was to get a rear sway bar this makes a lot of sense although I would definitely want an interlink disconnect for off-road. Any advice and past experience would love to hear. I am not giving up now come way too far for that! Greatly appreciate any feedback.....

By swaying do you mean body roll? Or wondering side to side when going straight?

Loose steering is caused by worn parts, frame cracks, or need to upgrade to drop pitman or crossover depending on lift height etc.

How are your ball joints and tie rod ends? Sway bar bushings will make a difference too.

It definitely is wondering side to side. The lift is 6 inches the steering box is brand new. Thanks for the feedback. I am going to look into the pitman

at 6" lift, you're pushing the limits of the stock steering geometry IMHO. may want to look into crossover steering.

Also need to check your caster specs, low positive caster will cause wandering

I second crossover steering. It fixed most of my bump steer and steering wander. That was with only 4in. of lift. Also a steering box brace will go a long way in firming up the steering feel.

In my experience it’s always one of the things already listed - spring bushings, ball joints, tie rods, lower steering column bearing, u-bolts, and caster angle.

Couple weeks back I needed to get some new battery connectors at VatoZone and there happened to be a bunch of mini trucks there. They had just gone on a run and one of their trucks had trashed their alternator. I had never really looked at a mini truck and so I'm talking to one of the owners about his truck and he also had a problem with bump steer and said the lower he went with the truck,, the worse it got. I was really surprised, so it must have something to do with changing the geometry of the steering away from stock. Whether up or down.

I have replaced stock steering with high steering can I add crossover steering or start all over?

Crossover/highsteer is a very common combination. I think you will need to either a) replace your passenger side knuckle with a flat top knuckle, or b) send yours out to be machined to accept the bracket. But if you already have highsteer then you have probably already solved that. There are a few manufacturers that can sell you the rest of what you need.

Replacing the stock rag joint steering shaft with the Chevy express steering shaft made a ton of difference for me. I could only detect a tiny amount of play before and didn’t think it was gonna make a difference but it eliminated the wandering. This was after a D60 install with 4” Lift, EZ ride springs, ORD crossover, new ps box, ps brace, new drag and HD tie rod.
