I have an 88 k5 that is rusted beyond repair. I have basketball sized holes in the floor up front, I LIFTED the passenger seat out without undoing a single bolt. The only thing stopping the driver seat from falling through is the frame underneath. The tailgate is hanging on only because of the latch,. both hinges are dangling free. The back floor FLAPS in the wind! The seatbelts are just dangling there because the rusted out of the support. Im getting major fumes in the truck too thanks to all the 'vents' mother nature has provided me.

Anyhoo I was wondering if a 88-91 regular chevy pickup cab is a direct bolt on if I remove the blazer body?

i'm pretty sure the pickup is longer and has at least some bolts that won't line up.

and wow, that sounds like a deathtrap. sounds like swapping a bathtub on there would be an upgrade.

Hehe yeah good ole Wisconsin. Where in WI are you? Im halfway between Madison and Milwaukee.

That sucks if I cant bolt one on. I dont want to even try swapping a blazer body ( not that I could find one rust free here anyway ). This is my DD but eh,. perhaps all the rust and holes can be my excuse to get out the angle grinder and cut cut cut :D

Yank the body off, weld a seat to the frame, and wear a helmet. Much safer.

Put the newer cab on it and flat bed it. That would be the easiest way.

Im near Oconomowoc.

I wanted to put a cab on and a simple wood flatbed made out of 2x8 planks. Im not gonna even attempt it if its not a direct bolt on though.

Ahhh I gotta renew my membership soon

You'll have to make a crossmember for the rear of the cab, either bolt or weld on, the front mounts should be the same, as well as the front clip, I was going to do the same thing, but opted for a different route, heres some pics to give you an idea that someone posted for me.

wow, did that new style cab bolt right up?i no a rear pickup x-member has 2 be swapped in, after that does it bolt up same as 2nd gen cab?

Sorry...not to hijack, but I grew up just south of Oconomowoc, in Dousman (actually closer to North Prairie). My folks still live there, and my Dad has what used to be my '86 Burb. If you see a two-tone brown 3/4-ton with no rust (from California), that's him.

We've got friends in Oconomowoc, too. They run the Radtke Appliance store...

Good luck with your rust bucket. I miss WI, but not for that.
