hey im runnin a 400 sb and am trying to figure out what to throw on for exhaust, im gonna go duals, but am not sure on the diameter, what is best, 2-1/4, 2-1/2? and what mufflers should i use? i want exhaust that is loud, but sounds good. not the cheap sound of glasspacks. thanks for the help

i cant really stand the sound of flow masters, but that is just me. i run headers and turndowns. for a sweet sounding exhaust full tube headers, 2.5 pipe, and either warlock racing mufflers(un-capable), or dynomax pro bullet. either sound wicked /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

well.. my buddy, whos a member here, runs long tubes, no crossover, dual 3" through 21" long 3" dynomax bullet race mufflers and dumps over the rear axle and that thing sounds amazing...

Long tubes, dual 2.5" pipe, and a 30 series flowmaster if you like to hear it scream in the upper RPM's or 40 series if you like it a little deeper. Also a big tip helps make the sound deeper and more aggressive. I have long tube hookers, dual 40 series, 2.5" pipe and dual 5" tips with my built 406....sounds awesome.

open headers like me! you might want to buy some earplugs though, my ears are literally still ringing from driving it yesterday. . . i am just doing it temporarily. . . but i love the looks i get and the drag car sound. . not to mention the awesome echo when i rev it... i might get my flow 40s put back on 2.5" in 2.5" back with 18"x3" tips with cutouts into 2.5" pipe with the same tips going out the back so i can run straight pipes or mufflers with the pull of a cord. . . if i don't sell my truck soon.

yea, i like the deep sounding exhaust, so dual 2 1/2 inch with flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and 5" tipped would sounds pretty sweet?

Flowmaster 40's, Flowmaster 40's, Flowmaster 40's, Flowmaster 40's, Flowmaster 40's. Enough yet? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

That's what I have and they're pretty damn cool. If you're lookin for a Nascar type sound I can't help ya but I happen to like these here 40's.

Good luck to ya in the future.

Allsn

Don't get the Delta flow 40s, get the "old style" I think they're like $50 or so each.
I have heard lots of people talk about these Dynomax mufflers before, who has some info./sound clips of 'em?

I don't know if you can get the old flowmaster 40's anymore? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif The delta version is just a little deeper and a little less aggresive. somehow I got one old style and one delta under my K5 but no big deal. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif I think they are around 60 -70 bucks.
