Just getting it finished up and I'm impressed with how it came out. I thought you guys would like to see it. I needed it to swing out so I can sleep in the back. It is set up to hold a 40" tire. The cage does tie into the frame.

Thinking of mounting a hilift jack in there somewhere, what do you think? Or on front bumper maybe? Cage is coming out for paint, time to decide.

Damm! That's badass! What a sweet rig. Beautiful! Nice fab work:bow:

So, your going to open the tailgate, swing out the carrier and then sleep in there?
That's pretty cool. I have a Suburban and can't sleep in the back. Too much stuff back there.

Love it!

Yes, Thank you!

It's been a long time coming, I can finally see some offroading in my near future :D

Wanna trade for a beat up Suburban! Just kidding.

I was thinking the weight of the tire and stress on the carrier, but then noticed the foot it will be resting on. Sck!

looks awesome man! I like the design. what did you use for the hinge?

will it be resting on anything while it's swung out? If you're sleeping in it it'll be supporting the weight for quite awhile.

Very nice job on the design and build. Rig looks bad ass as well. A spare tire in the large sizes for the full sized guys are not easy to figure out what the hell to do with them. I still can't decide what I want to do with mine. I want mine to touch the ground so I have to do ZERO lifting and completely fold up out of the way, and NOT block my rear view mirror, and take up no storage space inside. God damn is that too much to ask for :haha:. Still have to think about mine for a bit. I want to sleep in the back of my rig as well. So your running no rear seat at all, no need??? If it's just my kid and I, I wont need it. But if the woman goes I'l need it and wanted the rear seat cage mounted as well. I got that all figured out. My rear Mastercraft it tiltable and removable, and the floor is still flat to sleep on.

Thanks, good luck with all that.. lol :D

I'm running a suburban rear seat the comes out, while leaving the floor still flat. Retractable seat belts for the front, lap only on the rear seat.

Thanks!
Decided to have a pro build the cage, didn't think my skills were good enough to risk my life with. Hopefully it will never be needed.

I need to take some more pics. Adding rock sliders this week, dimple die pressed holes flipped upside down on some 3/16" plate for a little traction. Being that my wife is vertically challenged. ;) pics soon

Edit: yes the glove box and vent windows still work :D

Looks nice. Are the two "disc's" with the holes in them for the sun visors? I still have not got that far on mine yet. Interested to see what someone else has came up with. I have a couple of ideas, but they would take a ton of work and I still don't know if they'd work right when complete.

oh, more pics too.. :smile1:

Yes, pretty cool. Spring loaded.

Once they added the gusset, the originals wouldn't work

Sun visor is pretty cool. I'll need those as well. Thanks for posting.

Oh, NOW I learn about these visors ... after my cage is welded up, inside the cab :doah:

:D
