switch from 1986 to 90 or 91\'?

hey guys. i just bought my 86 blazer about a month ago. a friend of mines neighbor has a 90 or 91 350 for sale with 60,000 miles. supposively its in tip top shape and he only wants 3000 for it. would you guys do it if it was a good deal? i like the idea of fuel injection and the 350 motor. mine only has a 305 now. i have not done anything but put an amp and sub in mine which i can take out. so give me some yays or nays! lol /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hell I say go for it

I like my 87 with 350/tbi

also (and I'm sure someone will correct me) but I think the 90-91 models had galvanized rocker panels or something like that to help keep them from rusting

Take a look at it and see which one you like the most. The TBI 350 will be alot better than your 305 power wise and all around driveability. The TBI will have more computer issues to worry about, but with only 60K, you should not have much to worry about. Find out what gear ratio it has compared to your '86 and that the 60K are original miles. Which one will have the least amount of things you want to change?

Yeah, Ihave an 89 I wrecked it on Christmas eve last year, the frame is tweaked but the eng/tranny /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I picked up a 84 a couple of months ago w/ a 350 carbed & I' thinking of swapping, If I can find someone to /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif with the swap I'll give 'em the eng/tranny off the 84. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

$3000 is a steal if it really has 60k on it. I just paid $4500 for my 91 with 100k, but it was very clean and rust free, plus it has a Gov-lock rear and 3.73's /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Yeah I'd go for it. I paid $5k for my 88' with 108k miles on it. (but it had a fresh paint job and not a bit of rust). So yeah I think $3000 is a steal. Not to mention you get TBI, serpentine belt system, and no AIR pump to mess with. Let us know how it turns out. Good Luck.

Re: switch from 1986 to 90 or 91\'?

well, i went and saw ti this morning. when i was walking up i notices the headlights were not that of a 91. it turned out to be an 88. it only had 60000 miles on it, so that was true. no rust at all except for the extreme back left cor of the bed. could have been buffed out to a good shine, and the interior wa that maroon color with vynal seats. just not to my taste. no power either. i would love to buy it for the no rust, 350, and tbi!! but that means i would have to buy that one cash, which i dont have at the moment. so i will still keep my eye out for a 91, and then mayve sell mine to buy that one. sorry if i didnt make any sense

Man for $3000 you could make at least $1000 on it around here. Even with no power as long as its clean. By the way those headlights your looking for are on the 89-91 years.
