I need a switch panel with about 5-6 switches. I want to put it in the AC/Heater control hole on the dash. Anyone have pics of something like this?

i will check when i get home...

this is not cheap but not as much as 12volt guy (his stuff is top notch though!!!)

contura switches... you can get ALL parts through waytekwire.com

hmmm actually looking.. you could do the contura's and they would fit nicely...

now list of what you need is up to you... it can be done for a fair price...
example on mine is...

pg http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/waytek/catalog223/#/96

2 x end units 44387
3 x middle units 44388

pg http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/waytek/catalog223/#/94

1 x actuator tool - not needed but nice to have 44381
5 x electrical connector - not needed but DEFINITELY NICE if you remove your switches wires are kept nice - 44386
bag of terminals - 31090

for switches... if all you want are on/off then 5 x 44301
for me i went with 2 of them and 3 mom on off mom on 3 x 44304

so lets see how bad on the budget...
trick with them is some items have a MINIMUM!!!! so you end up with extras....

******** Casing *************
$4.90 - 2 (min 5 @.98 each) x end units 44387
$4.90 - 3 (min 5 @.98 each) x middle units 44388

******** Switches ***********
$6.04 - 1 (min 2 @3.20 each) x actuator tool - not needed but nice to have 44381
$5.90 - 5 (min 10 @.59 each) x electrical connector - not needed but DEFINITELY NICE if you remove your switches wires are kept nice - 44386
$4.00 - 15 (min 25 @.16 each) bag of terminals (may need more than 25) - 31090
for switches... if all you want are on/off then
$9.24 - 5 (will need 3 sets) (min 2 @3.08 each) x 44301
for me i went with 2 of them and 3 mom on off mom on 3 x 44304

sooooooooo lets add it up...
$4.90
$4.90
$6.04
$5.90
$4.00
$9.24
_________
$26.66 plus ride to your house...
now i bought a box of wire loom.. 100' roll for $17!!!!! go price 2' at autozone!!!! $8ish???
that site is addictive!!!!!

now you can go cheaper... i said the tool and connectors are good but if you dont need them..
you could take $15.84 off... so
$26.66 - $15.84 = $10.82!!!!!!!!!

thought id share more pics.. cuz i can!!!!!!!!!!!!

now this isnt my latest one... i actually had 4 circle switches that illuminated blue...
took them out and cut this hole.. used a piece of matt and mounted those switches in..
since then i have a black gauge cover.. and took the vent out and cut it a bit and put the 3 in so
they look different...

now that I'm done slutting my stuff..... :haha:

12 volt guy is a nice source for panels... makes some nice stuff.... fair bit pricier than doing it yourself, but will build you anything...

how do u want it, flush mounted, or resested?

Flush Mount.

i will check when i get home...

Wow man! That twice as much info as I ever expected to get. Thanks a lot. That had to be some copy and paste action. :) They look like they'd fit nicely in the ac/heater hole.

Ya... that is whorish. :D Pretty.:thumb:

Ryoken, that's a ****load of switches! Looks like an airplane panel, are you going to be using most/all of those? Damm! I do love it!!

actually, as of RIGHT now, I'm shy one, total.... :haha:

most of the electrical system has been set in stone... but i have been changing a couple things here and there as i finalize the diagram for what the truck will have in the end....

initially, when the truck comes back out next year, about 4 or 5 of those wont be used.. but are spoken for, and will be wired for, eventual items, rock lights, etc, etc...

i did "free up" one by going with a different dome light, but forgot 2 others i want.. so i'm shy one.... :doah: :haha: So i'll have to add a pair probably somewhere in the mix.....

don't forget I have 9 in the dash that are spoken for.. :pimp:

if i'm gonna snake wire thru my cage down the A-pillar tube, I'm only gonna do it ONCE! :haha: keep in mind too, I've been planning this awhile now.... I've been VERY extensive in deciding what I want in the truck at some point, fans, OBA, fr and rr winch, PC, 6 interior light options, OR lights, rock lights, etc, yada, etc, yada.. :eek1: :screwy: :haha:

on the right side of the steering column on the dash is what i'm stoked on, with centered hand throttle, fr and rr winch controls and paralleling switch.... that's gonna be trick with the hand throttle...

That's nothing but pure awesomness!!! If that's even a word. I have one switch for 6 rocklights!!! You have 20+!! Love it!

oh, just to hijack a bit more... something that has become interesting in my particular wiring, due to the customized panels, etc has been coming up with servicability for the wiring system....

for example... that overhead console.... designing the harness, routing and attachment of all that so when you want to work on it, it can be dropped down to a confortable point, with a disconnectable harness to work on the panel out of the truck... as opposed to hardwiring everything and having it hang a foot from the ceiling trying to do connections, etc...

ok, sorry, back to an average switch panel now..... :o

well, actually I'm doing 1 for 6 rock lights too.... it's the interior lighting really that "puts it over the top".... cargo light, dome light, floor amber, floor green, ceiling amber and ceiling green, plus a map light is what's out of control...

i definitely can "multifunction" some switches/systems more than i have, especially the interior lighting....but initially i figure it's best to keep as much flexibility as i can....

With all that lighting, and music, all you need is a fog machine and you will have a night club on wheels!

Flush Mount.

ummm no copy and paste action... I spent my time this AM to HOOK YOU UP WITH WHAT I KNEW!!!!! :waytogo:

I just want to steer you in the right direction.. dont just GIT R DUN.... plan it and make it future proof!!!!

do you think you are going to really need a green light to read maps and not bother animals WHILE DRIVING??? that is what the green is for!!!!!

My 5 shown are....
first green.. power to activate second red... winch front (non existant yet)
second green to activate third red... winch back ...
first red is actually going to be... up 4 bumper lights... down 4 bumper lights and 5 rollbar lights

my apologies to the OP....

I have this thing see.... maybe a pennicilan dose will clear it up, doubtful tho.... :haha:

back when i was a pup in my 20's, i decided to buy a nice head unit for my Cuda, as opposed to cheesy stuff... spent about $500 on this high end new Sony that was out... had one of the original "change the color of the display" gigs....

well, i have this thing for that.... :haha: i don't know, it's some "i'm in a green mood today" kinda thing.... :o

I've actually had all the interior lighting for quite awhile now.... LED setup under each seat in amber/grn,

and my secret..... indirect LED lighting from behind that overhead panel... looks stupid cool with the cage and stuff, once the ceiling is painted black it should be neat....

I should probably seek counseling........

das funny der...

bahh what will that do????

hey think the OP will actually find his brain today and get it back in order to figure out what he wants to do?????

i too have bought a headliner from YEARS AGO!!! and jcwhitney still sells it.. i love the thing.. was going to put my switches up there.. but i do have room for if in the future i need to!!!!!!!! :woot:i could put a whole row of say a visor lenght!!!!! 12-18???? :woot:

supposed to have a radio upthere.. but i put a cb!!!!!
headliner1.jpg

jcwhitney_headliner.jpg

so 80's... hehe, love it.. i'd run one... i wanted the cb on the ceiling.. i don't know, some throwback to the 70's and big rigs or something! :haha:

Can you tell me how the "mom on/off mom on" switches operate and what you use them for? I'm trying to wrap my head around them.

...And min 5 end units? That math just doesn't add up in my head. Also, your pics show "lighted" switches but the part numbers you listed are "unlit". Am I reading the catalog wrong? Thanks again! This site is great.

no i was just throwing stuff at you.. some are lighted.. you got to look...

here is the dealeo.... mom off mom is simple....

mom
off
mom

means push up and HOLD (spring loaded) and say winch in.... let go and it goes off....
same as down.. push down..(spring loaded) and winch out....

now if i am thinking right.. the momentary (hence mom)... switches DO NOT LIGHT.... think about it.. you know it is on.. yer fingers are on it!!!!

now they do have

on
off
on

so i can see that.. im going to use one of them for 4 bumper lights up and down for 4 bumper lights and also 5 rollbar lights..

now those light up.. and the contura rockers also will light...

also side note.. call them.. they are cool people.... they have contura switches with writing... dont think they had that when i bought mine a few years ago... once i get mine mounted and figured out.. im going to figure out what i want them to say.. but they have defaults like...
lights, acc, also have pics of lights facing straight (say kc's) aiming down like driving lights or bed lights..ya get the dealio...

hope that helps ya some....

so what you thinking???

Ryoken.. we didnt skeer him away!!!!!!!!!! :haha:

Poor B*stard. He asked about switch panels in this forum!:eek1:

ryoken, its done now, but how long before you get logical?

I figure if you are all relays, you can get by with a couple of 25 pair telephone cables.
Otherwise, its got to be getting interesting finding room for all the wiring.

I'm thinking on your next project, you need to move into the future. Do what all the car companies are moving to.
Dozens of switches, one data cable.........

In that thought, has anyone come out with the 42V three wire setup in a production car yet?

I don't know if working on one is going to be easier or harder. I suppose as long as you have equipment to read the data bus, it will be simpler.

haha, haven't you ever seen the Smartcraft systems in the boats? too unreliable at this point... what a disaster that system is/was.. it's getting better, but is still problematic and expensive..

i'll go the old fashioned way with signal wires and relays thank you.. that's the nice thing about the LED's, it's light gauge and no need for relays..

trust me this is eezy peezy compared to wiring a 62" Hatteras.... :doah: :haha:

the cage snake shouldn't be bad, don't forget I wire up upper stations like this...:eek1:
